Giving is a Family Affair

For Kristin Hanson and family, participating in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon was “thrilling!” The excitement of the crowds cheering them on, the bands playing music, and running together made for “the most fun we’ve had as a family in years!”
Kristin, husband Rob, and children Keely (age 9) and Devlin (age 7) are active supporters of the Hope for Children Foundation. Every year they donate toys and clothes to the Adopt-a-Family Program at Christmas. The Marathon was another great way to help less fortunate families.
“We trained as a family the two months prior to the 5K run, while we collected pledges. We had to raise our financial goal three times, thanks to the overwhelming support we were getting from family and friends,”  says Kristin, “I think it’s a great way for my kids to learn to work towards a goal for the better of others” .
Thanks to Kristin, Rob, Keely, Devlin and the many other families and groups that walked and ran, the Hope for Children Foundation raised over $40,000 through this year’s Marathon.

Adopt-a-Family Program Needs You!
It’s not too late! You can still make a difference by giving gifts or cash donations to help families experience a memorable Christmas.

Without your support, Christmas can be a dismal time for children and families living in poverty. But being ‘adopted’ at Christmas time can help ensure they enjoy holiday meals, warm clothing, toys and other gifts.

Register online at www.hopeforchildren.ca and a member of our Branch staff will contact you and give you a family profile and a special wish list. It’s up to you to decide how much you would like to contribute and which items from the wish list you would like to purchase. If you cannot do the shopping, you can still donate gift cards or make cash donations to the Foundation’s Christmas Fund.

It’s a rewarding way to share the spirit of giving. And it’s even more fun when you get together with family, friends, neighbours or co-workers to provide a memorable Christmas for a family in need.

For more information, contact 416-395-1634 or e-mail info@hopeforchildren.ca.

See www.hopeforchildren.ca for more details about our special programs. If you donate online, you’ll receive a tax receipt by email almost instantly.

Of course, we also accept donations by mail. Send your cheque to Hope for Children Foundation, 38 Isabella St., Toronto, ON M4Y 1N1. Or call us at 416-395-1634.
